What does it mean to hope in the future?

Here in Bosnia-Herzegovina, it often seems difficult to hope as the years bring imperceptible improvement to the economy and only more news of government corruption, continued ethnic division, war criminals on the loose and waning interest from the international community. Some people dream of leaving.

Others, like many who participate in the work of Face to Face Interreligious Service, speak passionately about their hope to positively impact the future of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Fra Ivo Marković, the director of Face to Face Interreligious Service and founder of choir Pontanima, has described our work as daring to hope in the future.

We dare to anticipate a future in which religions act as points of contact and not division, in which diversity is valued and cultivated rather than stamped out. We work to make that future a reality, using powerful tools such as music to heal wounds and bring people into relationship.
